Info Post
how does a girl picture her best friend? you want her to be someone you can call up and she brings wine, laughter and salmon cream cheese bagels. a girl who has the most amazing fashion sense and collection of shoes-and ideally your size! someone quirky, fun, with great hair and that special je ne sais quoi about her.
being a fellow hippie heart with a sense for literature and notably great hair it was about time to show some love for audrey rogers, author of be frassy. she lovingly set this double feature up (see my interview on her site) and did not lose a hard word when I kept sending her wine-soaked mails in the middle of the night asking her to delay the release date for just one more week.
read how I nailed her down on how to frassy:

1. what does fashion mean to you?
Tim Walker said "Fashion allows fantasy and I'm a fantasist". I agree with this completely- clothes become fantasy because they are a means of self-expression, a way of losing yourself in a hugely creative outlet.

2. if you could choose any position in the fashion industry, which one would it be?
Hmmm...I'd love to have Emmanuelle Alt's job but to be honest, my love lies in language...so I think I would most like to be a fashion journalist.

3. besides fashion, what are your passions?
Literature- I am a closet bookworm, I absolutely adore books! And the fact that I am studying English Literature at University is only increasing my adoration for authors and poems and playwrights...

4. which fashion choices from your past make you shiver?
When I was about 12, I wore a lycra pink camoflague tank top, which really reddens my cheeks with shame when I think back on it. I used to love glitter, but in the tackiest of senses...which is also quite embarrassing!

5. what colour is on your nails most of the time?
Hmmm...for the past couple of weeks they were this lovely, crazy blue colour but these days I am sticking to a subdued maroon purple/reddish shade.

6. describe your morning beauty ritual
I'll put the kettle on for some tea, then wash my face with Body-Shop Seaweed Scrub, clean my face with pure alcohol, moisturize, and then tinted moisturizer, some mascara and lip balm to follow. I might straighten my hair, depending on the day- library days my hair is up in a bun, lecture days I might leave it down and natural.

7. do you have a special diet or a way to stay fit?
I run religiously - have been for the past five years. I also stay away from refined carbs, such as bread, which is hard sometimes because there is nothing I love more than a cup of tea and a piece of toast!

8. how do people react to your style?
I live in a university town where everywhere wears "abercrombie casual", it frustrates me, but I continue to dress the way I want- most people think I am plain weird, others compliment me and then occasionally I'll get a rude remark. Once you become a certain age, you stop caring what others think of you...and since I've reached that point, I can say, its very, very liberating.

9. so does your style clearly stand out?
My style def. stands out . I'll be wearing lace leggings and paisley prints in a sea of girls in grey abercrombie sweatpants.

10. what do you wear

-when you´re not feeling well?
Probably my pyjamas...

-to classes?
My wardrobe will vary- I almost always wear leggings or tights- with either cut-offs, long baggy sweaters or dresses paired with pendants and scarves.

-when you want to stay all cozy but fashionable?
Leg-warmers, Leggings, Oxford Flats, and a big, big oversized sweater.

11.what are your fashion essentials?
Blazers, Leggings and Pendants.

12. you´ve been blonde before- what made you change your haircolour and which one do you prefer?
I am naturally a brunette, and with my dark eyebrows, I finally came to the realization that I looked better with brown hair than blonde. I also was tired of having to spend huge amounts of money on getting my roots done. Now that I am brunette and my hair is healthy and growing steadily longer, I can def. say I will never be dying my hair again.

13. which perfume do you use?
I use Daisy by Marc Jacobs, Forest Rain by Kiehls and Obsession by Calvin Klein.

14. have you ever been inspired by a character of a book/movie? which one?
I was always inspired by Antoinette in Jean Rhys' book "Wide Sargasso Sea", because of her curious sensitivity to colours and the worlds they seemed to inhabit for her. I also have been fascinated with Edie Sedgwick, primarily because I am a huge fan of Warhol but also because her style is hugely inspiring to me.

15. your typical saturday night?
Well I often go out on a Friday night, so Saturday evenings are pretty quiet. I will usually have a bath, do some reading and get into bed at about 8 o'clock with my candles and music on; and then get up early for a huge day of work in the library on Sunday.
